FlowersBurnt Chimney was named for the numerous old chimneys that were the only remains of houses that had burned in the past. Most of the old chimneys no longer stand.

Burnt Chimney is the area around the intersection of Jubal Early Highway and Booker T. Washington Highway.

Burnt Chimney is a rural section of Franklin County that has seen considerable growth over the past few years. This is due to its proximity to Smith Mountain Lake and it's ease of access to Roanoke, VA via Jubal Early Highway.
